The Wingfield family has served Bethel in many capacities for three generations. For Jackson Wingfield, supporting Bethel has always been a family affair. Jackson was introduced to the ministry through his marriage to Ted Demoss’s daughter June. Ted DeMoss was the President of Bethel from 1925-1977. Jackson began to participate in the Bethel Golf classic and soon after, his company, Wingfield Scale, became a sponsor for the Classic Weekend events. Now married to his wife June for 53 years, Jackson reflects on his motivation to continue serving the ministry. “I shared a passion for Bethel with Pat Boone, who I knew well,” Jackson said.
Over the course of fifty years, Wingfield Scale has funded multiple trips for Bethel residents, including the annual Lake Winnepesaukah outing. For Giving Tuesday this year, Jackson’s family foundation was able to provide a match for all gifts donated. Jackson’s heart for Bethel has been directly reflected in his generous giving. “I think it is one of the best organizations in Chattanooga you can give to,” Jackson expressed. “I love the work they do. It is worthwhile.”
As Jackson’s own family has grown, he has excitedly introduced them to Bethel. Now as adults, they share his passion for the ministry. His children and grandchildren attend the annual Lake Winnie trip along with Jackson to spend time with Bethel residents. His sons now direct their giving efforts towards the ministry through their own endeavors. Jackson is proud that his passion for Bethel.
As a current board member, Jackson is eager to continue his service to Bethel. Jackson is grateful for the ways in which Bethel has had an impact in his own life and for the family that came before him to lay that foundation.
