“Life is 90% attitude, 10% circumstances,” Allen Green, a former resident of Bethel Bible Village, says. Much of Allen’s childhood was spent in foster homes and group homes, but he never felt he belonged anywhere. The loving relationships that he built at Bethel finally made it feel like home. It was then that Allen was able to see the full potential for his life, building character traits he would later teach to other children.
As the current Fire Lights Safety Educator for the city of Chattanooga and a non-profit owner, Allen not only teaches children resilience, but also shares the importance of faith in their life. His organization Pain, Perseverance, Character & Hope (PPCH) develop programs in schools, providing social-emotional learning and literacy intervention. “I developed my non-profit based off of my favorite verse, Romans 5:3-6,” Allen said when explaining his inspiration for his work.
Allen recently returned to Bethel to play kickball with the kids, spending time with them and ultimately showing his love and support. “A kid doesn’t care how much you know until he knows how much you care.” Thank you, Allen for investing your time not only in our community, but with a whole new generation of kids.
