A former teacher from Big Ridge Elementary, Luci Stone was familiar with Bethel and aware that Bethel residents had attended the school. Rob Stone, Luci’s husband, also had a personal connection with the ministry, as his father, Don Stone, served as a member of the board of trustees and his mother, Bettye Lou Stone, was the Educational Coordinator for Bethel. As Luci’s retirement commenced, she desired to become more involved. “We have a legacy to carry on, and I wanted to invest my time in a place that will have eternal significance.”
Luci has served as a volunteer with Bethel Bible Village and Bethel Christian Academy for many years now, and Rob now serves as a member on the board of trustees. During the school year, Luci provides and serves lunch for the kids at BCA. In the Summer, Luci, along with friends, offers tennis lessons to the kids to encourage physical activity. “I have a passion for kids, and it has been meaningful to spread the good news of Bethel,” Luci explained.
Luci is inspired to continue her work with Bethel, as she can see the spiritual impact that the ministry has on children’s lives. “Just to hear them say a blessing and to hear what their faith is doing in their life is exciting,” she says. “Seeing the difference in the kids is just amazing.”
