Community is a cornerstone for Bethel’s ministry. This rings true for Steve Jett, current Secretary of Bethel’s Board of Directors. As a longtime friend of Chuck Baker, former Bethel President, Steve was invited to join the board in 2011. As he became more familiar with the ministry, it was clear that the mission was always first priority for the Bethel family. “I am proud to be on the board. During a time of transition and litigation, when it came down to mission or money, Bethel chose mission,” Steve explained.
As a retired attorney, Steve understands the financial aspect of the ministry, while also recognizing the role that the community has. “The church has always been supportive and provided a lot for Bethel,” Steve said, when speaking about his own church, Clear Creek Church of Christ. “Bethel meets needs in a way that many organizations don’t do.”
Steve’s small group from church also hosts food drives for the kids, the latest in Fall 2024, providing over 350 pounds of food for the Bethel pantry. Clear Creek volunteers, including Steve, serve lunch every month at Bethel Christian Academy. “I have always had a special connection with the school,” he explained. “The chance to interact with the kids, and even seeing some of them graduate, has been really neat,” Steve explained while speaking to the impact that the ministry has had in his own life.
As a board member, Steve is excited for the future of Bethel Christian Academy and the impact that it will make in his own community. “Seeing the school project is really a testament of growth,” he said.
